Welcome to my world!
I’m Steve Larkin. From being a teenager to the time of going to print
with this book in my early forties, I have been focused on presenting my
poetry and lyrics in a live environment as a ‘performance poet’/‘spoken
word artist’, and as a singer.
During the twenty-odd years that I’ve been doing this I have written
a good number of pieces that have not found a home in the world of
performance.
This book aims to bring all sides of my work together and to show
sensitivity to the intended presentation of each piece. It also seeks to
be sensitive to the way that different people engage with varying styles
of literature through a variety of media.
My research has shown me that people rarely read a poetry collection
from cover to cover; they mostly flick through them, and the average
number of poems read in one sitting is 5.8!
